Wish I could watch it, but highlights will have to suffice. Looking forward to seeing how Benson, Nygard and the D pairings do |

As am I.
So am I the only guy thinking it’d be nice to see Khaira and Gagner switch spots? |

I'd prefer to see Benson there just to give him a real shot at building offensive chemistry, but yeah I wouldn't mind Khaira getting a shot there. After what Nuge said about him and knowing that his skillset would help offset Neal's big weakness in a way that Gagner could NEVER achieve, I'm all about it! |

This year is probably a wash, with new management and readjusting. I do hope they somehow can make the playoffs.
But my preference is to have Bouchard not use up a year of his entry level contract this year, and even some of the other young players. (Benson, Bear, Jones, Yamamoto, ect)
Next year Manning, Gagne, Brodziak money comes off the books.
Then you could have a 3yr period of cheap entry level $$ on hopefully some impactful players, and maybe a chance to do something.
I don't think the team has much of a chance of doing big things this year, so save the entry levels for the next 3yrs.
Alot of dead cap space right now. $4.883mil this year, and $4.583 next yr. |

That's not how entry level deals work. They'll be burning a year whether they're in Bakersfield or in Edmonton. The only exceptions are 18-yr olds on loan from European teams; they don't burn a year off their ELCs if played in the AHL. |

I'd run prospects for all but the last preseason game. I mean some will just not be ready and fall off immediately, but more preseason time is great for evaluating depth.
That should also help the team evaluate needs and excesses that can be traded. |

Apparently Sekeras is dazzling in Stars camp. Nill came out and said he thinks Sekeras will be the most impactful and noticable of the signings they made this offseason. And we kept Kris (frank)ing Russell over him. |

Thats not what I'm reading on Capfriendly about entry level, from what I read, Bouchards entry level would slide another year if he doesn't play 10 or more games this year. |

"Players who sign at 18 years old are eligible to have their contracted extended for 2 seasons. This extension does not apply if the player turns 20 between September 16 and December 31 in his signing year. Signing bonuses do not slide, and are paid to the player regardless of a slide" |

Bouchard and McLeod both fall into the slide category. |

Like that second line...nuge just pass...neal just shoot...gagner, Benson, nygaard, or Haas, might look good as well...bouchard is turning heads...tough to keep that kid out of the lineup but might be best to send him to the ahl to start... |
